What do you do in the summer time? Well, nothing is quite as lovely on a hot sunny summer afternoon than attending a good ol’ fashion picnic in the park wedding. My dear friend Deborah put on a beautiful and charming gathering as friends came together to celebrate the wedding of her son David and new daughter-in-law Amber. One of the things I loved about it was that the ambiance was so inviting and charming that people lingered and visited in the park much longer than usual.
The path to the park was sprinkled with wrought iron shepherd hooks that held vintage ball jars with either blue hydrangeas or votive candles. As the day was windy, there was no keeping those tea lights lit, but the sun bouncing off the jars was all that was really needed :)
Of course, burlap, mercury glass, and a mini chalkboard sign was the perfect combination to use with a vintage wooden tray to hold the cards on the charming sign-in table!
The teal, aqua, and white cloth banners strung throughout the trees provided the perfect finishing touch to the celebration. And would you believe our friend Karen sewed everyone of those flags onto piping? Now that is true friendship and dedication – amazing!
Lovely Black-eyed Susan’s arranged in milk glass and clear glass vases were the perfect picnic centerpiece. Notice that last photo, in which you see the flowers wrapped with twine. Funny story that is really not that funny! ….Note to self: in arranging flowers for an outdoor wedding, use lead lined vases to prevent the wind from blowing them over!
Quilts scattered on the grass provided the perfect picnic ambiance!
BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, potato and garden salads, and crisp Oregon watermelon; all served with ice cold lemonade really hit the spot on a sunny August evening!
I was in love with the chalkboard & barnwood signs by the gifts and the lawn games along the perimeter of the park!
Here is the most important part of the entire Ol’ Fashioned Picnic in the Park Wedding – the bride and groom. It was delightful to take pictures of them throughout the evening as it was very evident just how smitten they were with each other. Doesn’t Love look beautiful!! May the years ahead for David and Amber be filled with many precious moments and memories to treasure!
